The Exhibit is Coming! The Exhibit is Coming!

We are in week 07 of the semester, and the pressure of the upcoming exhibit is beginning to affect us. The materials have been purchased, fabrication has begun, and the days are flying by.

Paul Revere cares about protecting our shared cultural heritage and you should to!

The curators probably have it easiest, as the label copy has been finalized, object labels have been completed, and titles and types have been assigned to all the labels. The curators main objectives right now include checking over details as the label copy is transferred onto the actual labels and providing support for the other committees.

Education is gearing up in preparation for the variety of programming. Most of the events have been distributed among individuals, some of which are planning programs for their interpretation projects. The pop-up museum is quickly approaching, and Jessica is the point person for planning and implementing that program. She has created loan forms for the pop-up museum and is planning to write and distribute a press release later this week. Jessica has already collected some objects for the pop-up museum, including a Louisville Slugger bat and a ticket from Woodford Reserve Distillery.

Here is a full list of the programming events that are currently planned:

Registrars are also quite busy with their preparations for their trip to Springfield next week. They are coordinating between the HA representatives and the various institutions to schedule times for pick up. Meagan, Dr. Barnhart, Mr. Riccio, and the two registrars will all be traveling to pick up the objects we are borrowing for the exhibit.

The design team, by far, is under the most pressure. Currently they are working on panel designs, the introduction video, a comprehensive and aggressive social media campaign, press releases, poster designs, logos, and other design changes as they occur. The most recent change is the rework of our stand-alone kiosk, which will now have only the introductory video and information about the history of the Eastern Illinois University Historical Administration program on it. The timeline graphic and information will now be moved to the top of the Perceptions of the Past and the History in the Moment cases. The kiosk will now be a triangular shape. The exhibit title will be designed and printed on foam core and displayed on easels in both the north and south entries to Marvin foyer.

Lots to do, but we are all very excited! Only 37 days until the exhibit opens…
