As we continue our hard work on the exhibit, this week we focused on our booklet design. The booklet will be used to provide our visitors with an overview of the exhibit and programing that will be held after the opening of the exhibit. One of our main focuses this week is to try and finalize the design of the cover of the booklet. This is proving to be quite a challenge. Also, we are continuing our work on the contents and layout of the booklet, including having individual photos of each member of the team taken. Our deadline to send the final copy to the printer is approaching fast!
This week we have been discussing a lot about formative evaluation. Formative evaluation consists of testing various elements of the exhibit including labels, interpretive panels, interactives and other aspects of the exhibit. The tests will be conducted by having visitors to the library read, try, and give feedback on the various elements. These tests will allow us to make any adjustments needed to make the exhibit the best it can be.
The following images are of team members creating a test silhouette with a quote to be placed in the “What” case and testing the sample puzzle interactive.

In the exhibits class, we were able to create a list of the different parts of the exhibit that will need to be built before it is placed into the exhibit. They include our central case, our time capsule box, among other things. We also discussed how to make these items as well as other items including artifact mounts. In the image below Cayla and Aaron practice bending Plexiglas to form into artifact mounts.
